Saudi Electricity Company has awarded contracts to BYD Energy Storage to deliver a 12.5-GWh battery energy storage system (BESS), the world’s largest grid-scale energy storage project.

The BESS equipment in the signed projects will be installed at five sites in Saudi Arabia. BYD Energy Storage will provide its new-generation MC Cube-T energy storage system with cell-to-system (CTS) technology. The 12.5GWh energy storage systems will be fully integrated into Saudi Arabia’s power transmission network system.

Combined with the previously delivered 2.6-GWh Bisha BESS project, BYD’s partnership with Saudi Electricity Company amounts to total capacity of 15.1GWh.
