Parsons Corporation marked a major milestone on November 27, 2024, with the official inauguration of the Riyadh Metro. As the lead consultant in the Riyadh Metro Transit Consultants (RMTC) joint venture alongside Egis and SYSTRA, Parsons played a critical role in providing project and construction management for two of the Royal Commission for Riyadh City’s (RCRC) metro contracts—now successfully completed.

“The Riyadh Metro was envisioned as a transformative initiative to redefine urban mobility and enhance the quality of life for residents and visitors,” said Pierre Santoni, President, Infrastructure EMEA at Parsons. “As a long-standing partner of the RCRC and lead consultant for this world-class system, Parsons congratulates His Majesty King Salman and His Royal Highness Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman on this momentous occasion. We are proud to support Riyadh’s journey toward sustainable urban development and Saudi Vision 2030, leveraging global expertise and local knowledge to achieve excellence.”

The Riyadh Metro, the world’s longest driverless metro system, spans 176.5 kilometers, features 86 transit stations, and includes seven rail depots. This groundbreaking project addresses Riyadh’s traffic congestion, improves commute times, and contributes to the city’s sustainable future in alignment with Saudi Vision 2030.

Safety and sustainability were paramount throughout the project. As of August 2024, RMTC achieved over 7 million work hours without a lost-time injury, supported by robust health, safety, and environment (HSE) practices, including more than 450,000 HSE inductions and 13,000 HSE campaigns.

With a legacy of delivering large-scale infrastructure projects worldwide, Parsons continues to set benchmarks in urban development, transportation, and smart mobility. The company’s 65+ years of experience in the EMEA region underscores its commitment to advancing sustainable and innovative solutions in partnership with global and local stakeholders.
