PlanRadar, a leading platform for digital documentation, communication, and reporting in construction, facility management, and real estate, has unveiled SiteView, its innovative feature for enhanced project visualization. Initially announced in March 2024, SiteView integrates 360° imagery with 2D plans to create a detailed visual record of construction activity, leveraging SLAM (Simultaneous Localization and Mapping) technology to simplify and elevate site documentation.

SLAM, widely utilized in robotics and autonomous systems, allows devices to map and navigate unfamiliar environments in real-time. Traditionally, construction documentation relied on manually capturing hundreds of photos or videos—a time-intensive and error-prone process. SLAM technology, however, simultaneously builds a map of an area and tracks the position of the device within it using sensors such as cameras or lasers. This dynamic approach continuously updates the map and the device’s position, enabling smooth navigation, obstacle avoidance, and real-time data capture.

PlanRadar’s SiteView capitalizes on these capabilities, transforming how construction sites are documented. By simply walking a site with a camera-equipped helmet, users can capture 360° images that are automatically mapped onto 2D plans using AI and computer vision algorithms. This ensures precise localization, accurate depth estimation, and a seamless documentation process, drastically reducing manual effort while improving accuracy.

“Our mission is to enhance customer experience by integrating state-of-the-art technologies into our platform,” said Ibrahim Imam, CEO & Co-Founder of PlanRadar. “SiteView builds on our existing documentation strengths by offering an intuitive, highly accurate tool that brings cutting-edge technology to the construction industry. With SiteView, we provide a superior level of transparency, reduce miscommunication, and minimize rework, ultimately driving efficiency and project success.”

The SLAM technology market is witnessing rapid global growth, driven by advancements in AI, robotics, and sensor technology. Expected to reach USD 9.4 billion by 2030, SLAM is increasingly recognized for its potential to revolutionize industries. By embedding this transformative technology into its platform, PlanRadar continues to lead the way in innovative construction solutions, delivering unmatched documentation capabilities for projects worldwide.

The new SiteView feature from PlanRadar significantly enhances the platform’s documentation capabilities by introducing advanced visual tools. SiteView streamlines condition surveys, enabling users to quickly capture the initial state of a building and protect against liability for pre-existing issues. Throughout a project’s lifecycle, it allows for detailed milestone comparisons, offering “before and after” insights and even providing visibility “behind the wall.” This minimizes the risk of costly rework—estimated at 11% of total project costs—by delivering precise visual records that ensure full project transparency.

By offering remote access to real-time visual updates, SiteView fosters seamless collaboration among teams. Stakeholders, including clients, developers, and end-users, can conduct faster reviews and approvals without visiting the site. This reduces miscommunication, prevents disputes, and keeps all parties informed throughout the project lifecycle with clear documentation of completed work.

SiteView is currently available to PlanRadar’s customers and prospective clients, with ongoing development based on user feedback and industry needs. Future updates will include interactive features such as markups, tagging, bookmarking, and measurement capabilities within 360° images, demonstrating PlanRadar’s commitment to continuous innovation and enhancing the user experience.
