Mohamed Amer, Regional Director of Operations for ICC MENA

The International Code Council (ICC) continues to cement its role as a key player in Saudi Arabia’s journey toward sustainable and resilient construction, aligning with the transformative goals of Saudi Vision 2030. By collaborating with the Saudi Building Code National Committee (SBCNC) and the Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs (MOMAH), ICC is advancing innovative building solutions that enhance safety and promote sustainability in the region.

Milestone Achievement in Building Code Compliance

A recent highlight of this partnership was the successful issuance of a Code Compliance Report (Evaluation Service Report – ESR) for a locally manufactured floor and roof panel system. The evaluation rigorously assessed the system’s structural integrity, fire-resistant properties, and overall compliance with the Saudi Building Code (SBC). This comprehensive process not only validated the system’s adherence to safety and regulatory standards but also streamlined the permitting process, enabling quicker approvals by local authorities.

“The International Code Council is proud to support Saudi Arabia’s commitment to innovative and sustainable building solutions,” said Mohamed Amer, Regional Director of Operations for ICC MENA. “This collaboration exemplifies the power of partnership in achieving safer and more resilient construction practices, perfectly aligned with Vision 2030.”

ICC Showcases Innovation at Cityscape Global

At the recent Cityscape Global exhibition in Riyadh, ICC underscored its leadership by participating in a panel discussion with representatives from Saudi authorities. The dialogue focused on adopting innovative and sustainable building systems to address the Kingdom’s evolving construction needs.

During the event, ICC highlighted its array of tailored solutions, including code compliance, evaluation, and certification services. A key announcement was ICC’s plan to establish a dedicated office in Riyadh, a strategic move designed to accelerate the adoption of advanced building technologies in the region.

The event also marked the official authorization of the evaluated building system, signaling a milestone in enabling market access for innovative solutions. This achievement demonstrates the effectiveness of ICC’s partnership with Saudi authorities in fostering advancements in construction.

Supporting Vision 2030 for a Sustainable Future

As Saudi Arabia continues its transformation into a global leader in sustainable urban development, ICC’s expertise is instrumental in achieving the ambitious objectives of Vision 2030. By leveraging global knowledge and fostering local collaborations, ICC is driving the adoption of cutting-edge building technologies that prioritize safety, efficiency, and sustainability.

Through these efforts, ICC reaffirms its commitment to shaping a resilient and sustainable construction landscape, not just in Saudi Arabia but globally.
